With elements of USS Iliad, SG-7, SG-Hellfire and the 10th SFS arrival, we quickly located our AO for the weekend and were glad to find that marker beacons had already been placed at the AO for us to find the correct fan table location. Our members quickly off-loaded supplies for the weekend and began to enjoy the fellowship within our group.
So, Friday after scouting and unloading our gear, plans were mad eto attend dinner together at a local Oriental Buffett. The staff must have been in shock when we showed up with 12+ people for dinner. The meal was excellent and the company even better, as everyone was laughing and telling stories through the meal. Back to the hotel, we continued to socialize with all the SG fan present, and took in the sites.
Saturday morning was a flurry of activity and we setup the fan table and prepped for our first SG Panel. Our staff nicely handled the running of our Fan Table, as well as, the SG Panel. A sincere thanks go to all those attending and helping with both. Things couldn't have been better and everyone had a great time...
Most of us skipped dinner, as we were rehersing for our Masquerade Skit. Ken led the troupe though several rehersals till we got it right. Once we were all settled, we ventured forth and helped with fan table and its clean up for the evening's festivities. SG Operations was the 16th contestant during the Masquerade and we were abel to bring home the award for "Most Humorous" for our rendition of "Take a Chance on Me" ala Moma Mia style. It was quite fun to perform and to watch as the crowd roared with laughter.
Sunday morning was back to the fan table, with a great display being setup. We made our rounds and continued the comraderie and at the end of the day, we were fortunate enough to be able to present Tori Higginson with a "Honory Membership" and posed for several pictures. Afterward, we all assisted in cleaning up and said goodbye to both old and new friends and hit the road for the trip(s) back home.
Overall, the report from this con, was that it was a great success and fun for all involved. Thanks to everyone who attended and helped make it a great weekend!!!
