Gentlemen:

It has come to my attention that there may be additional need for a ship with a highly trained crew to help scout and support the efforts of the SGC and SGSOC. Thus, I am commissioning a new BC-304 Daedalus-class Battlecrusier, the "Iliad". The BC-304 Iliad's name sake is based on the first Greek word from Homer's famous Iliad, μῆνις (mēnis), which means fury, rage, or wrath. It's crew, although working directly with SGC (Stargate Command), are to serve as an independant command and will be operated by Air Force SGC personnel under the command of Maj. Carl Bennett. Other SGC and SGSOC units may also be part of the ships’ complement as mission requirements dictate. Special missions may differ and this may require all or any of the above units. Any decisions regarding ships’ matters will be made by the ship's commander. Any decisions dealing with additionally assigned units will be made by ranking SGC and/or SGSOC Team/Sqdn CO. All Iliad personnel will report to the ships’ commander and all command decisions, dealing with ship's emergencies will be made by the ranking Command officer or if necessary and time permits, by a consensus of the Command officers.

This ship will also have select civilian and alien personnel, which will be assigned to the ship on an as needed basis. All civilian personnel will report to the ships commander.

Major specifications for the ship are as follows:

·         Advanced alien technology (such as Asgard shields, weapons systems, reactor, sensors and transportation technology) will be incorporated from the start.

·         The transporters will and can be used for weapons delivery and transport of personnel.

·         The Iliad will carry two squadrons of F-302 fighters.

·         The ship will be carrying numerous Naqahdriah enhanced nuclear warheads.

·         Other tactical weapons as necessary.

·         It will also carry several reverse engineered puddle jumpers that will be operated by either SGC or SGSOC personnel.  These puddle jumpers will have the cloaking technology.  These craft can also be used in conjunction with stargates.

·         The ship will be powered by hyperspace engines, which are powered by Naqahdriah.  The ship will be able to operate in a planets atmosphere and even land on the planets surface.

·         The ship will have a 10-bed infirmary with at least 1 maybe 2 doctor/surgeons, 5 nurses and a fully equipped operating room.

·         The ship will have a very secure auxiliary control bridge.  This bridge will have security procedures in effect to limit any access by adversaries and/or boarding parties.  Once bridge officers are on this bridge and the bridge access is secured, all ships’ functions can be controlled and locked out ship wide so only bridge personnel can control the ship.  Besides the ships’ infirmary, this will be the most structurally secure room on the ship.

·         The ship will have a fully equipped chow hall and carry enough food to support a complete ships’ compliment for 6 to 9 months.

·         The ship will also have locking clamps for boarding other ships and a towing harness for towing other ships.

·         The ship will have a refit bay to allow, in the field (space) repairs, refit and upgrades of on board SGSOC.

·         The ship will be outfitted to allow the use of a Zero Point Module (ZPM) when and if one becomes available.

·         The ship will carry 100 to 150 fully armed SGC and/or SGSOC troops.

I am in the process of reviewing personnel files to assist Maj. Carl Bennett with the startup of the Iliad's crew selection.  A crew compliment will be approximately 50 to 75 personnel and other SGC and/or SGSOC as necessary depending on the missions.
